BEM KIMPTON BUDAPEST
By Marcel Wanders, where I served as Graphic Design Lead with a team of three designers, Kimpton BEM Budapest (2024) honours Hungarian folklore while celebrating Budapest’s modern vitality, with elegantly appointed guest rooms, three distinctive dining venues and bespoke experiences.
19th Century Mansion
Transformed from a historic 19th-century mansion along the Danube to a sophisticated 127-room enclave, the 5-star superior hotel design is inspired by Budapest’s rich folklore & vibrant energy, and the Hungarian fairy tale ‘The Golden Stag and the Turul Bird’.
Storytelling
A cohesive narrative rooted in Hungarian folklore was carried throughout the spaces, reflected in the furniture, atmosphere, wallpapers and rugs, creating a unified and immersive experience.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom carries its own character, with one room type featuring stained glass as a defining element. Integrated into the dividing doors, it introduces colour, light and subtle privacy to the space. The motif continues throughout the project, creating a cohesive visual thread and a crafted sense of continuity from room to room.
