Geometry of Waste
At Isola Design Festival’s “No Space for Waste” brings together projects of circular design, slow production and discarded resources. In this exhibition, Francesca Müller launches the rug collection ‘Geometry of Waste’. The rugs explore the potential of deadstock yarns in creating one-of-a-kind pieces. The rug design follows a pattern grid and color rules, using available yarn surplus. A celebration of the tradition of flatweave rugs, Geometry of Waste proves that by embracing the “randomness” of leftovers within a geometric structure, we transform deadstock yarns into a producible system. A physical record of the surplus repurposed at the exact hour of production.

A Framework of
Surplus Yarn
Geometry of Waste proves that by embracing the “randomness” of leftovers within a disciplined geometric structure, we transform the deadstock yarns into a scalable, producible system. Each rug is inherently unique. A physical record of the surplus repurposed at the exact hour of production.
